Stock footage upload software, compared
Stock footage upload software sends your clips and their metadata to several agencies so you do not fill each site’s form by hand. Below, the tools you can install or open today, compared on five measurable points from their official pages read on 13 October 2026, with no ranking.

What we compared
“Best” depends on how you work, so this page sets out facts you can check instead of a score. Each tool is described on the same five points, all read on its own site:
- Agencies: how many it lists, and whether Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5 are among them.
- Video: whether its own pages mention video files, and how.
- System: Windows, Mac, Linux or browser.
- Price model: free tier, subscription, one-time licence or commission on sales.
- Upload route: FTP-type transfer from your computer, or transfer from the vendor’s servers.
Keywording quality is left out on purpose: it is compared tool by tool in keywording tools for stock footage, compared.
Stock footage upload software, compared
| Tool | Agencies | Video, per its own pages | Runs on | Published price | Upload route |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| StockSubmitter | 40 per its statistics, including Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5 | Lists video agencies (Pond5, VideoHive, Storyblocks, Dissolve); no video workflow described | Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit only | Free (33 submissions a month per counted agency); €4 to €62.50 a month | Not stated on its home page; Adobe’s SFTP help names it as a third-party tool |
| Microstock Plus | 33, including Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5 | “photo, video, illustrations and vector files” | Any system with a browser | Free if you never bought a plan and earned under $50; other prices not on the home page | From its servers: “all in one go from our servers” |
| Xpiks | “microstocks and to any server that supports FTP, SFTP or FTPS” | “Edit and upload photos, vectors and videos” | macOS, Windows, Linux | €0 (15 files per session), €49 one-time, €99 a year | FTP, SFTP or FTPS from your computer, or Xpiks Cloud |
| IMS AI Studio | “almost any microstock” since v3.1.0 (1 July 2026) | Not stated for Studio; its sister service IMS Vision recognizes videos | Windows and Mac OS | No price on the home page | Not stated |
| SendStock AI | “50+ platforms supported” | FAQ: metadata for “stock photos and videos” | Windows and Mac apps, plus a web app | Free (100 AI requests); Pro $6.99 a month or $47.88 a year | FTP or SFTP, in the desktop app |
| RushPilot | Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond5 | Video only; reads a few frames of each clip | Desktop app, private beta | 25 clips free; €0.05 to €0.09 per clip | Fills each agency’s form and uploads from your computer |
Of the five third-party tools, Microstock Plus, Xpiks and SendStock AI name video files on their own pages. None of the pages we read describes a video-specific workflow, such as reading several frames of a clip or writing a different title length per agency. Test three real clips on a free tier before you pay: one 4K, one vertical, one with a long file name.
FTP, web or server: how files reach the agency
Every uploader uses a door the agency already opens to contributors. Knowing which one tells you what a tool can do for video, and what you can do with no tool at all.
| Agency | Bulk route for video | What the help page says |
|---|---|---|
| Shutterstock | FTPS: ftps.shutterstock.com, port 21, explicit FTP over TLS | Video “can also be uploaded via the web”, but FTPS suits “a large number of video clips” |
| Adobe Stock | SFTP, port 22, qualified accounts only | “ideal for bulk uploads and large videos”; a tool such as StockSubmitter needs the SFTP credentials too |
| Pond5 | FTP: ftp.pond5.com | Needs a separate FTP password of at least eight characters |
A desktop tool like Xpiks or SendStock AI sends files over one of these routes from your own connection. Check that the protocol matches: Shutterstock asks for FTPS, which Xpiks lists and SendStock AI’s pricing page does not. Microstock Plus works differently: your files are delivered to each agency “from our servers”, and it keeps your agency passwords “on a remote server in the encrypted form”. StockSubmitter says it keeps passwords on your computer only. Agencies also cap how much video you can send each week; the numbers are in upload limits by agency.
Services that upload for you
A distributor takes your files once and places them at agencies under its own arrangements, for a share of the sales. Three names come up for footage, in very different states as of October 2026.
| Service | Status | Agencies | What it keeps |
|---|---|---|---|
| BlackBox | Yes. Active; footage only, approval before upload | Shutterstock, Pond5, Adobe Stock, iStock, DepositPhotos, Freepik, Envato, Canva | 15% of net sales plus a transaction fee of about 3% |
| Wirestock | No. No new content to agencies since January 20, 2026 | None for content first submitted after that date | 15% of marketplace royalties on older content |
| dropstock.io | No. “currently not available” | Said it supported 40+ agencies via Dropbox sync | Not shown |
What changed at Wirestock, and what its contributors can do now, is on Wirestock alternatives. dropstock.io’s home page says it is “rethinking the platform” and asks users to check back.
Tools that fill forms but do not send files
Some tools stop one step short of the upload. AutoKeyWorder is a Chrome extension that, per its home page, reads each image and fills the title and keywords on the upload page of Adobe Stock, Shutterstock, Freepik and other sites. You still upload the file yourself. Web keyworders that return a CSV per agency work the same way; they are compared in the keywording guide linked above.
Choosing microstock submission software for video
- You work on Windows and send to many agencies: StockSubmitter lists 40. Its free plan is enough to test video on a few clips. More on its limits in StockSubmitter alternatives.
- You work on a Mac or Linux: Xpiks runs on all three systems and uploads by FTP, SFTP or FTPS. Its documentation says little about video; see Xpiks alternatives.
- Your connection is slow: Microstock Plus delivers from its servers once your files reach it.
- You want AI metadata and FTP upload in one app with a free tier: SendStock AI’s free desktop app includes FTP and SFTP upload; check FTPS before relying on it for Shutterstock.
- You would rather hand off everything: BlackBox, for footage, against a commission.
- You send a few clips a week: the agencies’ own web forms and an FTP client may be all you need.
How the whole chain fits together, from folder to approval, is on the automating stock footage uploads page.
Where RushPilot fits
RushPilot is a desktop app for stock video contributors, in private beta. You cannot download it today; you can join the waiting list.
It is narrower than the tools above: video only, three agencies (Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5). For each clip, it looks at a few frames, writes the title, description and keywords to each agency’s rules, checks common rejection reasons such as resolution, duration, logos and upscaling, and waits for your approval before it uploads. It does not handle photos or vectors, and it does not send to the other agencies these tools list.

Questions
What is the best stock footage upload software?
No tool wins on every point, so this page does not rank them. Pick by system, agencies, video support, price model and upload route. As of October 2026, StockSubmitter is Windows only, Xpiks runs on macOS, Windows and Linux, and Microstock Plus runs in a browser.
Is there free software to upload to several stock sites?
Yes, with limits. As of October 2026: StockSubmitter’s free plan allows 33 submissions a month to each counted agency; Microstock Plus is free for users who never bought a plan and earned under $50; Xpiks Basic allows 15 files per session; SendStock AI’s free desktop app includes FTP and SFTP upload.
Which microstock submission software runs on Mac?
Xpiks has a macOS download, IMS AI Studio supports Windows and Mac OS, and SendStock AI offers Mac and Windows downloads. Microstock Plus runs in any browser. StockSubmitter states “Windows 10 or newer 64-bit only”.
Can I bulk upload stock video without extra software?
Yes. Shutterstock takes video by FTPS and names FileZilla, Cyberduck and WinSCP; Adobe Stock offers SFTP to qualified accounts; Pond5 takes FTP with a separate FTP password. Metadata then goes in by the web form or a CSV file.
Does Wirestock still upload to stock agencies?
Not for new content. Its Terms of Use say that starting January 20, 2026, Wirestock will not license or otherwise provide to the content marketplaces any content first submitted after that date.
Can I use RushPilot to upload today?
Not yet. RushPilot is in private beta with a waiting list. It is built for video only and uploads to Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5.
