RushPilot for Adobe Stock contributors
An Adobe Stock keywording tool has a task the other agencies do not set: rank the keywords, because the first 10 weigh the most in search. Below are Adobe's rules for video metadata, the contradictions between its own pages, and the options you can use to meet them, RushPilot included.

What Adobe Stock asks of each clip
Adobe's metadata rules are short, but they are spread over several help pages that were updated on different dates. Here they are side by side with the file rules a clip has to pass first.
| Point | Adobe Stock rule |
|---|---|
| Container and size | MOV, MPG or MP4, 3,900 MB at most |
| Length | 5 to 60 seconds; 10 to 20 recommended, with 1 to 5 seconds of handles |
| Frame rates | 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, 60 fps (no 48) |
| Audio | Remove it: the editing page says Adobe does not accept videos with audio |
| Title | Short, ideally under 70 characters; 70 at most in a CSV, no commas or special characters |
| Keywords | Up to 49 (titles page), 50 (CSV), 5 to 50 (video upload page); 5 to 49 fits all three |
| Keyword order | The first 10 positions have the greatest influence on search ranking |
| Language | The language of your contributor account; one language per submission |
| Category | The one that best describes the subject; a number in a CSV |
| Not allowed | Trademarks, brand names, artist names, personal information, irrelevant keywords |
The resolution list and the refusal reasons for video are on the Adobe Stock video requirements page. The category numbers a CSV expects are listed in Adobe Stock categories.
Keyword order: the Adobe-specific job
Shutterstock and Pond5 publish no rule on keyword order. Adobe reads the list as a ranking: its titles and keywords page (18 August 2026) says the first 10 positions have the greatest influence on how a clip ranks in search. A tool that returns 40 accurate keywords in alphabetical order has done half the work for Adobe.
| Positions | What goes there | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | The main subject and the action | cyclist, cycling, bridge |
| 4 to 7 | Setting, time of day, motion | dusk, city, commute, riding |
| 8 to 10 | Concepts a buyer searches for | urban mobility, transport, lifestyle |
| 11 onward | Supporting details | silhouette, river, evening, bicycle lane |
Three Adobe rules decide when you can still change that order:
- Adobe can suggest keywords at upload; you edit and reorder them before submitting.
- Once a clip is in moderation, the order is locked. You can change it again in your portfolio after approval.
- In a CSV, the Keywords column is read in order of importance, so the file has to carry the ranking.
The method in detail is in Adobe Stock keyword order, and the free title and keyword checker tests a list against Adobe's limits.
Where Adobe Stock clips get refused
Contradictions between Adobe pages
- Keyword count: 49, 50 or 5 to 50 depending on the page. Stay at 49 or fewer.
- Audio: the editing page (11 June 2026) refuses video with audio; the do's and don'ts page (27 March 2026) allows sound if every identifiable voice has a release. A silent export meets both.
- Release format: the release upload page (12 June 2026) accepts PDFs only, 10 MB at most; the CSV page describes the Releases column as a JPEG file name. Upload in the format the portal accepts and copy the exact name it shows.
File rules other agencies do not have
- 48 fps is not on Adobe's list, though Shutterstock and Pond5 accept it.
- Upscaled footage, such as HD scaled to 4K, is refused.
- The preview image is the frame 5 seconds into the clip, so that frame has to show the subject.
- Vertical clips should carry the words "vertical" and "video" in the title and keywords.
- In a CSV, the Filename column takes 30 characters at most, extension included, and must match the uploaded file exactly.
AI, editorial and limits
Adobe accepts AI-generated video if you tick "Created using generative AI". Mislabeling is a refusal reason both ways: an AI clip left unticked, or a camera clip ticked by mistake. Adobe "doesn't accept traditional editorial content at this time", and its illustrative editorial collection covers photos, illustrations and vectors only. Editorial footage goes to Shutterstock or Pond5, which both take it with their own caption rules.
What RushPilot does for Adobe Stock
RushPilot is a desktop app for stock video contributors, in private beta with a waiting list. You put your clips in a folder. For each clip, RushPilot:
- looks at five frames of the clip;
- writes the title and keywords Adobe Stock expects, up to 49 keywords with the most important first;
- checks the common rejection reasons before anything is sent;
- uploads the clip to Adobe Stock, and to Shutterstock and Pond5 with the metadata each of them expects.
The video files stay on your computer. RushPilot makes no promise of acceptance or sales: Adobe's moderators still decide on each clip.
Adobe Stock keywording tool options compared
Each line about a third-party tool comes from its official page, read on 11 October 2026. Prices change, so check them before you pay. Nothing here is ranked.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| By hand in the Contributor Portal | You type and order it; Adobe can suggest keywords at upload | Yes. Browser; SFTP for qualified accounts | Browser | Free |
| PhotoKeyworder.ai | Titles, descriptions, keywords from multi-frame analysis; Adobe Stock CSV | No. You upload | Browser | Video counts as 3 credits; 300 credits for €9.99 |
| Stocktag | Relevance-ranked keywords from sampled frames; ready-made Adobe Stock CSV format | No. You upload | Browser | 1 credit per 5 seconds; 500 credits for $5 |
| Xpiks | Metadata editor, CSV export, AI keywording plugin with Pro+ | Yes. FTP, FTPS or SFTP | macOS, Windows, Linux | €0 (15 files per session), €49 one-time, €99 a year |
| StockSubmitter | Metadata editor with QuickMeta tagging | Yes. Adobe Stock among its listed agencies | Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit | Free (33 submissions a month per agency) to €62.50 a month |
| RushPilot | Title and up to 49 ordered keywords from five frames, checked against common rejection reasons | Yes. To Adobe Stock, Shutterstock and Pond5 | Desktop app, private beta | €0.05 to €0.09 per clip; 25 clips free |
On the upload side, Adobe gives SFTP to qualified accounts only and does not say how an account qualifies. Its SFTP page tells you to enter the generated credentials in any third-party upload tool you use, so check your account under Upload, then Learn More, before you pay for an uploader. The browser route is covered in how to upload video to Adobe Stock, and the wider comparison in keywording tools for stock footage.
RushPilot pricing
RushPilot charges per clip, from €0.05 to €0.09 depending on the offer. Monthly plans start at €7 for 100 clips, credit packs at €9 for 100 clips, and every new account gets 25 clips free to judge the titles and keyword order on its own footage. The details are on the pricing page.

Questions
What is the best Adobe Stock keywording tool for video?
The one whose output you can put in Adobe's order: the 10 keywords that matter most first. As of October 2026, Stocktag describes relevance-ranked keywords and an Adobe Stock CSV format, and PhotoKeyworder.ai exports an Adobe Stock CSV; neither uploads. Xpiks and StockSubmitter edit metadata and upload.
How many keywords does Adobe Stock allow for video?
Adobe's pages disagree: up to 49 on the titles and keywords page, 50 in the CSV rules, 5 to 50 on the video upload page. A list of 5 to 49 keywords meets all three.
Does keyword order matter on Adobe Stock?
Yes. Adobe says the first 10 keywords have the greatest influence on search ranking, so put the subject, the action and the setting first.
Can I change keyword order after submitting to Adobe Stock?
Not while the clip is in moderation. You can reorder keywords before you submit, or in your portfolio once the clip is approved.
Can I use commas in an Adobe Stock title?
Not in a CSV. The Title column takes 70 characters at most, without commas or special characters.
Which language should Adobe Stock keywords be in?
The language set in your contributor account, and one language per submission. Shutterstock, by contrast, requires English.
Can I download RushPilot for Adobe Stock today?
No. RushPilot is a desktop app in private beta with a waiting list. Until it opens to you, use one of the options compared on this page.
