Adobe Stock contradicts itself on the keyword count: its metadata guidelines say up to 49, its CSV page says 50, and its video upload page says 5 to 50. The checker warns from 50 and fails above 50: a list of 5 to 49 meets all three pages. Pond5 contradicts itself too, with a minimum of 5 in one section of its metadata page and 7 in another, so the checker warns below 7. The details are in keyword limits by agency.

Passing the checker is the floor

A title and keyword list can respect every limit and still sell poorly or get rejected, if they do not describe what is in the clip. Reviewers reject keywords that do not match the footage. Buyers search for what they need to show: the subject, the action, the place, the mood.

For a method that works on video, read how to keyword stock footage. To turn finished metadata into an upload file, follow the Shutterstock CSV or Adobe Stock CSV guide.

Questions

How many characters can an Adobe Stock title have?

Adobe recommends keeping titles under 70 characters, and 70 is the maximum in a CSV upload, without commas or special characters.

How many keywords should I use?

Shutterstock takes 7 to 50, and Adobe Stock 5 to 49 to satisfy its three pages (49, 50 and 5 to 50). Pond5 allows up to 50 with a minimum of 5 or 7 depending on the section, so use at least 7; it recommends 10 to 20. Stop once the clip is described: keywords that do not match it count against you.

Why does the checker flag brand names?

Agencies reject trademarks in commercial metadata. Shutterstock allows brand names only for editorial content. The list catches common brands; it does not replace a careful read.

Does the checker store what I type?

No. Everything is computed in your browser as you type. Nothing is sent or saved.

Why do my first 10 keywords matter on Adobe Stock?

Adobe says the first ten keywords have the most influence on search ranking, so order matters there, unlike on Shutterstock.
