Upload limits by stock agency
The Shutterstock upload limit is 100 video clips per rolling 7 days. Stock agency upload limits elsewhere range from a weekly cap with no published number (Adobe Stock) to no stated cap at all (Pond5). Here they are side by side, with file sizes, batch sizes and the deadlines between upload and submission.

Shutterstock upload limit: 100 clips per rolling 7 days
Shutterstock's help article says contributors can submit up to 500 images and 100 video clips in any 7-day period, a limit it ties to its review timelines. The window rolls: a clip submitted on a Tuesday frees its place the following Tuesday. Shutterstock's own example uses images: 100 on Monday, 200 on Wednesday and 200 on Friday reach 500, and nothing more goes in until the next Monday. Past the limit, a pop-up stays on your dashboard until the window expires.
The other numbers that shape a Shutterstock batch:
- 100 files per web upload. The Upload page takes up to 100 files at one time. The FTPS article gives no file count and presents FTPS as a way to send a large number of clips at once.
- 10 GB per file, in .mov or .mp4, for clips of 5 to 60 seconds.
- Up to 72 hours for FTP uploads to appear on the site.
- 21 days to submit. Uploaded content not submitted in that time is deleted from Shutterstock's servers.
- CSV size. No row limit is published, but Shutterstock says CSVs with hundreds or thousands of unrelated rows take longer and may delay or block a submission.
One more stop sign: if the tax form is not submitted within 90 days of the first reminder, the Upload and Submit buttons are disabled until a form is approved. The upload steps are in how to upload video to Shutterstock.
Adobe Stock: limits without numbers
Adobe announced on 20 May 2025 that when you reach "your weekly submission limit or the maximum amount of allowed content pending moderation", you get a temporary pause before you can submit more. The announcement gives no number for either limit and no length for the pause. The full reading, with what Adobe leaves out and how to plan around it, is in the Adobe Stock submission limit.
The figures Adobe does publish concern files and metadata:
- 3,900 MB per video, in MOV, MPG or MP4, 5 to 60 seconds.
- SFTP for qualified accounts, which Adobe calls ideal for bulk uploads and large videos that may not upload reliably through the web interface. Files go up one by one: folders and archives are not supported.
- CSV files of 5,000 rows and 1 MB at most, with file names of 30 characters or fewer.
Since the pending cap counts content you have already submitted, a large batch sent at once can hold up the next one even before the week is over. Adobe has not said whether uploading continues during a pause.
Pond5: file size by resolution, no stated cap
Pond5's upload and footage pages state no weekly or daily cap on uploads or submissions. The limits they do set are per file, and they depend on the resolution:
| Clip | Maximum size |
|---|---|
| HD or lower | 3 GB |
| 4K, 5K, 6K | 5 GB |
| 8K | 6 GB |
| R3D (ZIP with a MOV, one clip per ZIP) | 6 GB |
| Vertical | 3 GB |
The throttle at Pond5 is time. When it receives many files, Pond5 asks you to allow at least up to a few hours for uploads to appear on your Uploads page, and it says review times vary by asset type and batch size. FTP settings and the Apply CSV page are covered in how to upload video to Pond5.
iStock and Getty Images
Getty's public "Preparing your content" page sets a 6 GB maximum per video file, a 5-second minimum and a suggested maximum of 30 seconds, with longer clips allowed when the content justifies it. It says nothing about how many files you can upload or submit per week. The complete video technical requirements sit behind the contributor login, so any limit there is not public. The public rules are gathered on the iStock and Getty requirements page.
Planning a bulk upload around the limits
- Export once, under the smallest file limit. HD under 3 GB and 4K under 3,900 MB pass Shutterstock, Adobe Stock, Pond5 and Getty alike.
- Count in Shutterstock weeks. 100 clips per rolling 7 days is the one hard number; upload no more than you can submit within 21 days.
- Send Adobe smaller batches. With no published figure, several modest submissions leave room in the pending cap. Keep a log of dates and counts.
- Check clips before they use a place. On Shutterstock, a refused clip still used one of the 100 submissions of its week. The free video spec checker reads a clip's settings first.
Sending the same batch to several agencies at once is covered in how to upload to multiple stock agencies.
Where RushPilot fits
RushPilot cannot raise any agency's limit, and nothing should promise to. What it does is make each place count: it checks every clip for common rejection reasons (resolution, duration, logos, upscaling) and writes the title, description and keywords each agency expects, then waits for your approval before uploading to Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5. It does not send to iStock.
It is in private beta. Join the waiting list or see pricing: the first 25 clips are free.
