StockSubmitter alternatives

StockSubmitter runs on Windows only, which sends many Mac users looking for a StockSubmitter alternative. This page sets out what StockSubmitter does and costs as of October 2026, then the options for Mac and for video, each from its official page.

What StockSubmitter does

StockSubmitter is a desktop app that fills, translates and stores metadata, then uploads and submits your files to stock agencies. As of October 2026, its site states the system requirement as “Windows 10 or newer 64-bit only”, and points macOS and iOS users to its online version, Microstock Plus. The site says the product has been on the market for more than ten years.

The home page describes these parts:

  • a metadata editor with the QuickMeta tagging system, included in the free plan;
  • upload and submission to the agencies it supports, 40 according to its statistics block;
  • agencies in three groups: unlimited submissions (iStock ESP, Dreamstime, YayImages), counted against your plan (26 agencies, including Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Alamy), and upload only (such as ClipDealer, PantherMedia and Zoonar), with MotionArray listed as in development;
  • tracking of sales and approvals.

StockSubmitter plans and prices

StockSubmitter plans as published on stocksubmitter.com, as of October 2026
PlanPriceBilling periodsSubmissions per agency per month
Free€01 month33
Starter€4 a month3 months100
Lite€8.08 a month1, 6, 12 or 24 months250
Casual€17 a month1, 6, 12 or 24 months400
Professional€40.20 a month1, 6, 12 or 24 months1,000
Unlimited€62.50 a month1, 6, 12 or 24 monthsNo limit
Uploads are unlimited on the free version. Submissions are counted for each agency separately: 250 a month on Lite means 250 to Shutterstock and 250 to Adobe Stock.

To size a plan, count your clips per agency, then check the agency’s own cap in the next section: a plan that allows more than the agency accepts adds nothing.

Agency limits and upload routes

Whatever tool you pick, the agencies set their own ceilings and their own ways in. A tool that uploads for you uses one of these routes.

Video upload limits and bulk routes at three agencies
AgencyVideo limitBulk upload route
Shutterstock100 clips per rolling 7 daysFTPS: ftps.shutterstock.com, port 21, explicit FTP over TLS
Adobe StockA weekly limit and a cap on pending content; numbers not publishedSFTP on port 22, for qualified accounts only
Pond5No limit stated in the articles we readFTP: ftp.pond5.com, with a separate FTP password

Shutterstock’s cap works out to about 430 clips in a 30-day month. StockSubmitter’s Casual plan, at 400 submissions a month per agency, sits just under it; Professional, at 1,000, goes past what Shutterstock will take in video. Adobe does not publish its limit; what it has said about it is on the Adobe Stock submission limit page.

StockSubmitter and video

The StockSubmitter site lists video agencies, including Pond5, VideoHive, Storyblocks, Dissolve and CreStock. As read on 11 October 2026, it does not say how the app handles video files: which formats it opens, whether it shows frames from a clip, or how it writes video metadata for each agency.

Microstock Plus is more explicit about file types. Its home page says it can upload, attribute and auto submit photo, video, illustration and vector files on 33 agencies. It also does not describe a video-specific workflow.

File names are the other trap with any uploader. Shutterstock accepts only a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and the underscore; Pond5 refuses spaces, dashes, accents and special characters. Rename clips to letters, digits and underscores, such as harbor_dawn_drone_04.mov, before you load them into any tool.

StockSubmitter alternatives for Mac

StocktagBrowserNo; exports CSV, XMP, embedded metadata or ZIP500 one-time credits for $5; monthly plans

If what you used in StockSubmitter was the upload and submission, Microstock Plus is the closest match, since StockSubmitter presents it as its own online version. If you used it mostly to write metadata, Xpiks covers editing and upload in one desktop app. Xpiks also has its own page: Xpiks alternatives.

Alternatives for video contributors

Three tools describe how they handle video on their own pages, as of October 2026. All three are web services that write metadata; you still upload the clips yourself or with another tool.

Tools that document a video workflow
ToolWhat its page says about videoHow a clip is counted
PhotoKeyworder.aiMulti-frame analysis; CSV for Standard, Adobe Stock and Shutterstock; metadata not embedded in video files1 video = 3 credits
StocktagVideo metadata from sampled frames; 15 marketplace CSV formats1 credit per 5 seconds; 12 credits for 60 seconds
IMS VisionWorks with photo, illustration, vector and video files; recognition of videos added in March 2026Per recognition; video count not stated

A tool that writes text still leaves you with the agency CSVs and the upload. The columns each agency expects are in the Shutterstock CSV and Adobe Stock CSV guides. A wider comparison is in keywording tools for stock footage, compared.

Where RushPilot fits

RushPilot is a desktop app for stock video contributors, in private beta with a waiting list. You cannot download it today, so it does not replace StockSubmitter this month.

It is narrower than StockSubmitter: video only, three agencies (Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5). Within that scope, it looks at a few frames of each clip, writes the metadata each agency expects, checks common rejection reasons and uploads.
