What Xpiks does

Xpiks describes itself as a microstock keywording and uploading tool for photos, vectors and videos. As of October 2026, its downloads page offers version 1.7.5 for macOS, Windows and Linux. Its home page lists these functions:

  • editing of XMP, IPTC and EXIF metadata, one file at a time or in batches;
  • keyword autocompletion, spellcheck, presets and suggestions;
  • a check for potential problems before upload;
  • CSV export in every plan, CSV import in paid plans;
  • upload over FTP, FTPS or SFTP, or through Xpiks Cloud;
  • AI keywording, sold as a plugin with Pro+.

The AI keywording tutorial says the plugin writes keywords, and since later plugin versions, titles and descriptions. It runs on credits that you top up inside the app. The page does not say how many credits a file uses.

Xpiks plans and prices

Xpiks plans as published on xpiksapp.com, as of October 2026
PlanPriceWhat the plan includes
Basic€015 files per session, unlimited sessions, community support
Pro€49 one-time1 year of unlimited files and standard support; optional renewal for €39
Pro+€99 per yearUnlimited files, all plugins including automatic keywording, 48 GB of cloud upload (4 GB a month), priority support
Pro+ has a 14-day free trial. AI keywording credits are bought separately inside the app.

Xpiks and video files

Xpiks lists videos among supported files on its home page. Its documentation says little more. As read on 11 October 2026, the tutorials index has no article about video, and the AI keywording tutorial does not say whether the plugin reads clips.

That matters because video metadata reaches agencies by their web form or by CSV. Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5 each take a CSV with their own columns and limits: Adobe caps the title at 70 characters, Pond5 the description at 500 in its CSV. If you try Xpiks for footage, check three things on a few real clips during the trial:

  • whether the metadata you type is kept for MOV and MP4 files after a restart;
  • whether the CSV export matches each agency’s columns;
  • whether AI keywording returns results for a clip, or only for stills.

How to choose for video

Most of these tools started with photos. For footage, compare them on these points, in this order:

  1. Does it read the clip? One frame describes a thumbnail; several frames describe the action. PhotoKeyworder and Stocktag say they analyze several frames.
  2. How does it count a clip? PhotoKeyworder charges 3 credits per video. Stocktag charges 1 credit per 5 seconds, so 12 credits for a 60-second clip.
  3. Does the output fit each agency? Look for a CSV per agency, since embedded metadata is not written into video files by PhotoKeyworder.
  4. Does it upload? Xpiks, StockSubmitter, Microstock Plus and IMS AI Studio upload; the web keyworders hand you files to upload yourself.
  5. Does it run on your system? StockSubmitter is Windows only; the others run on Mac or in a browser.

If you only need a correct CSV, the column rules are in the Shutterstock CSV guide and the Adobe Stock CSV guide. For a wider comparison, see keywording tools for stock footage, compared, or the StockSubmitter alternatives page.

Leaving Xpiks without losing your keywords

Before you move, save your titles and keywords in a form any other tool can read.

  1. Export a CSV of your catalog. CSV export is in every Xpiks plan, including the free Basic plan, so you do not need to renew Pro to do it.
  2. Keep the files Xpiks wrote to. For photos, Xpiks stores titles, descriptions and keywords in the files’ XMP, IPTC and EXIF fields, which other editors can read.
  3. Keep your presets as text. Copy keyword presets you reuse into a plain list.

If you shoot both stills and footage, you do not have to switch everything at once: keep Xpiks for photos and test a video tool beside it on a few clips. How embedded metadata and CSV files differ for video is explained in XMP vs CSV for video metadata.

Where RushPilot fits

RushPilot is a desktop app built for stock video contributors. It is in private beta, with a waiting list, so you cannot download it today. If you need a tool this week, pick one from the table above.

When it opens, RushPilot takes a folder of clips, looks at a few frames of each, writes the title, description and keywords each agency expects, checks common rejection reasons, and uploads to Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5. It does not handle photos or vectors, which Xpiks does.

Does Xpiks work on Mac?

Yes. As of October 2026, the Xpiks downloads page offers a macOS .dmg, a Windows installer and a Linux AppImage, all at version 1.7.5.

Does Xpiks support video?

Is there an Xpiks alternative for Windows only users?

StockSubmitter runs on Windows 10 or newer, 64-bit only, and submits to the agencies it lists. Its free plan allows 33 submissions a month to each agency.

Is RushPilot an Xpiks alternative?

Not today. RushPilot is a desktop app for stock video contributors in private beta, so you cannot download it yet. When it opens, it will cover video only, for Shutterstock, Adobe Stock and Pond5.
