Adobe Stock payouts: minimum, methods and timing

Adobe Stock pays out on request, once you have US $25 in royalties and your first sale is at least 45 days old. The money goes to PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill and usually arrives within 7 to 10 business days. Each video license earns you 35% of its net price.

What you earn per video license

Adobe's royalty page, updated on 13 July 2026, sets the standard rate at 35% for video and 33% for photos, vectors and illustrations. The rate applies to the net price of each license: the U.S. purchase price, including any discount. Adobe's own example uses a photo plan at US$29.99 a month for 10 licenses, which gives US$0.99 per photo (29.99 / 10 x 33%). It publishes no equivalent figure for a video plan, so the amount a single clip earns depends on how the buyer paid.

Licenses sold through custom agreements and non-standard plans, such as Adobe Express plans and Pro Edition plans for Creative Cloud teams, pay either 35% of the attributable amount for video or a flat rate. The minimum royalty rates on Adobe's large subscription (from $0.33 to $0.38 per license) cover photos, vectors and illustrations only, not video.

Royalties are counted in credits, and one credit equals one US dollar. Contributors cannot change this, and the calculation stays the same whatever currency your payment provider pays you in. To project a year of earnings from your own numbers, use the stock footage earnings calculator; what footage earns across agencies is covered in how much you can make selling stock footage.

When you can request a payout

Adobe lists five conditions on its "Request a payment" page. All of them must be met before the first payout:

  • your balance has reached US $25 in royalties;
  • your first Adobe Stock sale happened at least 45 days ago;
  • your Contributor account is linked to a valid PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill account;
  • your email address and phone number are verified;
  • you have a valid tax form on file, or you accept the 30% automatic withholding.

The 45-day wait applies once, from the first sale. After the first payout, you can request another each time the balance reaches $25 again. Below $25, the Payout option is disabled, and the balance simply stays in your account. New contributors setting up the account can follow how to become an Adobe Stock contributor.

PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill

You pick one provider in your Contributor account. Adobe's payment requirements page describes where each one works:

Adobe Stock payment providers and their limits
ProviderAvailabilityAccount notes
PayPalAvailable globallyA premium PayPal account is required in Japan to receive funds
PayoneerContributors outside the United StatesAdobe notes that "a required payment provider applies" in Indonesia, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey
SkrillMost countriesIn Russia, existing accounts are still paid but new accounts are not accepted

A separate page, updated on 14 September 2026, covers Russia and Belarus. In Russia, PayPal and Payoneer no longer receive Adobe payouts and Skrill has limited availability. In Belarus, Payoneer is not available, Skrill is, and PayPal's status varies. Bank transfer does not appear among Adobe's options.

You can change the payment details at any time in your Contributor account. The change applies to the payout requests made after the update, not to one already sent. Adobe's payout pages mention no fee on its side; check your provider's own terms for receiving US dollars and converting them.

How to request a payout

  1. Sign in to the Contributor Portal with your Adobe ID.
  2. Open the Insights page and select Payout.
  3. Check the payout information: the linked provider and account. If nothing shows, select Go to Payout information and add a provider first.
  4. Select Transfer [amount] and confirm.

The request then shows on the Insights page, where you can follow its status, and your balance goes back to zero. If you made a mistake, Contributor Relations can cancel the request, but only before the provider has received and accepted the funds.

How long the money takes

Adobe's payout page says funds "are typically deposited into your payment account within 7 to 10 business days". Its Firefly FAQ, updated on 16 September 2026, calls "8-10 business days" the standard, adds that payments are processed in the order received, and warns that a high volume of requests can make them take longer. Plan on about two working weeks after you click Transfer.

Tax withholding before the payout

Adobe withholds US tax automatically as royalties are earned and sends it to the IRS. Without a valid tax form on file, it withholds the maximum rate of 30%. You fill in the form online, in the tax center of your Contributor account; pre-filled uploads are not accepted, and a form signed more than two hours after you opened it stays in draft. Non-US contributors fill in a W-8BEN, or a W-8BEN-E for a company.

The rate after validation depends on the tax treaty between the US and your country. Adobe's table, updated on 9 October 2026, has a separate column for "motion picture or TV", the one that applies to video:

Submit the form before your first sales. Adobe states that a validated form applies only to future transactions: money withheld before validation is not returned. For a signed statement of royalties and withholding for a given year, Adobe's tax FAQ points to adobetax@adobe.com.

The 2026 Firefly bonus and the $1 minimum

On 17 September 2026, Adobe added a Firefly Contributor bonus to the balance of eligible contributors whose content, video included, was considered for training its Firefly models. It is the fourth year of the bonus, and amounts vary by contributor. For those who received it, Adobe lowered the minimum payout from $25 to $1 from 17 September to 17 December 2026.

The lower minimum works once. After any payout request, whatever the amount, the minimum goes back to $25. The bonus is also subject to US withholding where it applies. How Adobe and the other agencies use footage for AI training is covered in stock footage and AI training licenses.

US $25 in royalties. The Payout option stays disabled below that amount. Contributors who received the 2026 Firefly bonus can cash out from $1 until December 17, 2026, once.

How long after my first sale can I get paid?

Your first Adobe Stock sale must be at least 45 days old before you can request a payout. After that, you can request one each time your balance reaches $25.

Does Adobe Stock pay automatically every month?

No. You request each payout yourself from the Insights page of the Contributor Portal. Your balance then resets to zero.

Which payment methods does Adobe Stock use?

PayPal, Payoneer and Skrill. PayPal is available globally, Payoneer outside the United States, and Skrill in most countries. Bank transfer is not on Adobe's list.

How long does an Adobe Stock payout take?

Adobe's payout page says funds typically arrive within 7 to 10 business days. Its Firefly FAQ calls 8 to 10 business days the standard and warns that heavy request volume can stretch it.

What happens if my payout fails?

If PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill rejects the payout, Adobe returns the funds to your Contributor account. You can then fix your payment details and request again.

Will Adobe withhold tax from my payouts?

If no valid tax form is on file, Adobe withholds the maximum rate of 30%. A validated W-8BEN can lower it to your country's treaty rate, which is 0% for video in France, Germany and the UK per Adobe's table. Money already withheld is not refunded.
