Who can become an Adobe Stock contributor

Adobe's sign-up page, updated on 11 June 2026, lists three conditions. Its account guidelines, updated on 3 September 2026, add a few more. We read both on 12 October 2026.

Conditions for an Adobe Stock contributor account, as published
ConditionWhat Adobe says
AgeAt least 18 years old
ContactAn active email address and phone number, both verified
PayoutAn active payment method for payouts: PayPal, Payoneer or Skrill
Adobe accountAn existing Adobe account, or a new one created from the Contributor Portal
Identity detailsName, email address and country of residence accurate and matching your legal documents
Number of accountsOne per contributor; each phone number must be unique
AgreementAccept the Contributor agreement, which includes the account and submission guidelines
TaxTax information entered in the Contributor Portal

Adobe describes Adobe Stock as non-exclusive: you can sell the same files on other platforms. It also accepts generative AI content that meets its guidelines, and video alongside photos, vectors, audio, templates and 3D.

Sign up in the Contributor Portal

Everything happens at contributor.stock.adobe.com. The first screen offers two buttons.

Two ways to create an Adobe Stock contributor account
You haveButtonThen
An Adobe accountLink my Adobe IDSign in, select Contributor Account in the top menu, fill in the profile, Save changes
No Adobe account, or want a separate oneJoin nowEnter email and password, then your personal details, then Create account; verify email and phone next

Adobe allows one account per contributor. A second account for the same person needs an exception, which you request through the help page on multiple contributor accounts.

Email and phone verification

Adobe's account overview says all new contributors must verify both their email and mobile phone number before the account becomes fully functional, to keep the community secure and aligned with its one-account policy. The order is fixed:

  1. Open the email Adobe sends after you create your Adobe ID and follow the prompt.
  2. On the welcome page, select Add mobile phone number. You can only add it after the email is verified. The number is confirmed by SMS.
  3. Refresh the browser window and select Complete profile.

Profile, payout and tax

Adobe says completing the profile is necessary to get started. It has four parts:

The Adobe Stock contributor profile
PartWhat you enterWhy it matters
AccountName and display nameSets up your contributor profile
AddressResidential informationRequired before you can add tax information
Payout informationA payout method from the menu, with its detailsNeeded before any payout request
Tax informationAdd tax information opens a digital tax formWithout a valid form, Adobe withholds the maximum rate of 30%, depending on your country

After Save changes, the sign-up page says you have signed up and can upload. For the tax form, Adobe suggests consulting a tax professional if you are unsure how to answer a question.

Your first video upload

Before the first upload, check the clips against Adobe's technical list. Files that miss the minimum requirements are refused in moderation.

Adobe Stock video rules for a first upload
RuleAdobe Stock
ContainerMOV, MPG or MP4
Length5 to 60 seconds
Largest file3,900 MB
Frame rates23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60
CodecsProRes or H.264 recommended; MPEG-2, MPEG-4, Motion JPEG or PNG also accepted
Horizontal sizes1920x1080, 2048x1080, 3840x2160, 4096x2160, 4096x2304; most widescreen ratios accepted
AudioRemove it before upload

Then, in the Contributor Portal:

  1. Select Upload and drag the video in, or select Browse.
  2. In the New tab, add a short title, 5 to 50 keywords with the most important first, and a category. Adobe offers AI keyword suggestions; review them before you keep them.
  3. Attach model releases for recognizable people and property releases where needed.
  4. Select Save work, check that the video displays correctly, then Submit.

Keyword order counts on Adobe Stock: the first 10 keywords carry the most weight in search, and Adobe says you cannot change the order while files are being moderated. Set it before you submit, as described in Adobe Stock keyword order. The full list of specs is on Adobe Stock video requirements, and the upload in detail is in how to upload video to Adobe Stock.

Limits on new accounts and everyone else

Adobe has no entry test, but it does cap volume. On 20 May 2025 it announced two limits for all contributors: a weekly submission limit and a maximum amount of content pending moderation. Reaching either brings "a temporary pause before you can submit additional content". Adobe has not published the figures.

For a new account, that argues for a first batch of your strongest, most varied clips rather than a full shoot. Adobe's guidelines name excessive similarity as a common reason for refusal, and they forbid logos, brands, copyrighted designs and landmarks that need property releases. How to plan batches around the caps is in the Adobe Stock submission limit.

Other account rules from the same guidelines: Adobe does not accept public domain content, and activity meant to inflate sales rankings or manipulate search can get an account suspended or terminated.

Questions

Do I need a Creative Cloud subscription to sell on Adobe Stock?

No subscription is listed among the requirements. You need an Adobe account, which you can create from the Contributor Portal with Join now, plus a verified email, a verified mobile number and a payout method.

Does Adobe Stock review a portfolio before accepting me?

No. Adobe's sign-up page says that once you save your profile you have signed up and can upload. Each file is then moderated on its own.

Do I need to upload an ID to Adobe Stock?

Adobe's current sign-up pages ask you to verify an email address and a mobile phone number, not an identity document. Your name, email and country of residence must match your legal documents.

My phone number is already in use. Can I still join?

Each phone number must be unique, as part of Adobe's one-account policy. If yours is already linked to an account, Adobe shows how to request an exception from the Contributor Relations team.

How old do I have to be to sell on Adobe Stock?

18 or older, according to both the sign-up page and the account and submission guidelines.

How many videos can I upload to Adobe Stock per week?

Adobe has a weekly submission limit and a cap on content waiting for moderation, announced on 20 May 2025, but it has not published the numbers. Reaching either causes a temporary pause.

When can I get my first payout from Adobe Stock?

Once you have US $25 in royalties and your first sale is at least 45 days old. You request the payout yourself from the Insights page.
