Pond5 pricing for contributors
Pond5 pricing for contributors works one way for video and another for everything else. For footage, the price you enter is only one input: Pond5 places each clip in a price tier and keeps the right to adjust it. For music, sound effects, photos and templates, you set the price. Here is what the contributor agreement and help pages say.

How Pond5 prices video
Pond5’s tagging and pricing page states it directly: "The Pond5 footage marketplace works on a tiered price structure", and the prices you enter "are one of several factors used to determine the optimal list price for your clips". A help article dated 25 February 2026 names the tiers:
| Tier | Pond5’s description |
|---|---|
| Standard | A budget-friendly option designed for affordability |
| Premium | A higher-priced tier offering enhanced options, such as 4K resolution content and associated features |
Other media follow the old model. Pond5 says you have "the freedom to set your own prices" for images, music, sound effects and After Effects templates. Price is a required field for every media type except video.
Where you set a price
- Uploads page. Enter a price per clip, or change the Pricing Method to "Let Pond5 set my price", which Pond5 says prices your content "to optimize sales".
- My Uploads. You can update the title, description, keywords and price by clicking each field.
- CSV. The price column takes the price of the original file in US dollars. For video, Pond5 says to insert your preferred price and its system will put the clip in the appropriate tier.
The rest of the submission, from file names to the Needs Edits status, is in how to upload video to Pond5.
What the contributor agreement allows
Section 3 of the Pond5 Contributor Agreement, effective 15 January 2025, opens with "You have the option to set the price of your Content", then lists what Pond5 may do anyway:
- adjust the price of any content to maximize your overall revenue, align with its tiered pricing model, or comply with its minimum pricing guidelines;
- charge more for Extended Licenses;
- offer subscriptions and discounts at prices it sets, including "materially reduced pricing" for narrower licenses aimed at high-volume, short, social or small-audience uses;
- license through resellers and partners, set prices for those deals, and license content in pools, splitting the customer’s payment among the works as it judges fair.
The Global Partner Program shows how partner pricing works. Deals are negotiated case by case, with content pooled by price range for buyers with high volume. Pond5 says the program does not affect your marketplace price. All contributors are enrolled; opting out now means closing your account.
What buyers pay
The price shown on a clip includes the Individual license by default. Buyers can upgrade at checkout, and the price changes with the license:
| License | Seats | Indemnification |
|---|---|---|
| Individual (default) | 1 user | $15,000 |
| Business | Up to 5 users | $250,000 |
| Premium | Unlimited users | $1,000,000 |
Pond5’s public pricing page, read from France on 12 October 2026, showed these figures in euros. The right-hand columns apply the published shares to them, before the taxes and fees Pond5 deducts, so treat them as ceilings.
| What the buyer pays | Price shown | 30% (non-exclusive) | 40% (exclusive) |
|---|---|---|---|
| One video, pay per asset | From €41 | €12.30 | €16.40 |
| Footage Plus, monthly (10 downloads) | €210 a month, €21 per item | €6.30 | €8.40 |
| Footage Plus, yearly (10 downloads a month) | €1,045 a year, €8.71 per item | €2.61 | €3.48 |
How to choose your price
Pond5 sends contributors to its Data & Trends section for pricing recommendations, and that section promises "recommended pricing". The footage edition for September 2026 listed top sellers and the most searched terms (vintage, nature, drone, timelapse, among others) but no prices. Without a published figure, four habits follow from the terms above:
- Mind the parity rule. A Pond5 price above your lowest price elsewhere breaches the agreement. Where an agency sets the price itself, as Adobe Stock does for video, the comparison is with what its buyers pay.
- Price to the tier you want. Your price decides the tier. A 4K clip fits Pond5’s description of Premium; a simple HD clip fits Standard.
- Stay consistent within a series. Clips from one shoot priced far apart can land in different tiers for no reason a buyer can see.
- Use “Let Pond5 set my price” if you have no basis. Pond5 keeps the right to adjust prices in any case.
Adobe Stock offers nothing comparable for video: its premium price tiers exist for photos and illustrations, and "video content doesn’t support tiered pricing", so every video goes in the standard collection. What a Pond5 sale pays against the other agencies is in Pond5 vs Shutterstock and how much you can make selling stock footage; the full Pond5 workflow is on RushPilot for Pond5.

Pond5’s contributor agreement refers to its minimum pricing guidelines and lets Pond5 adjust prices to comply with them, but the pages read for this guide do not publish a figure.
