How to bulk upload to Adobe Stock
To bulk upload to Adobe Stock, send the clips by SFTP if your account qualifies (or by drag and drop in the Contributor Portal), then attach titles, keywords and categories to the whole batch with one CSV of up to 5,000 rows. What limits a large shoot is the weekly submission limit, whose number Adobe has never published.

Browser or SFTP for a large batch
Adobe documents two ways to get files into the Contributor Portal. Both end in the same place: the New tab of Uploaded Files, where the metadata goes on and the clips are submitted.
| Browser upload | SFTP | |
|---|---|---|
| Who can use it | Every contributor | Qualified accounts only |
| Login | Your Adobe ID | Hostname and ID from Upload, then Learn More, plus a generated password |
| Files | Drag and drop, or Browse | Standalone files; no folders, no archives |
| Suited to | No batch advice given | "Ideal for bulk uploads and large videos", in Adobe's words |
| Batch size | No figure published | No figure published |
Each clip still has to pass Adobe's file rules: MOV, MPG or MP4, 5 to 60 seconds, 3,900 MB at most. Those and the rest of the single-clip process are in how to upload video to Adobe Stock.
Adobe Stock SFTP, step by step
Adobe says SFTP suits bulk uploads and large videos "that may not upload reliably via the web interface". It does not say publicly how an account becomes qualified, and it shows the server name only inside the portal.
- In the Contributor Portal, select Upload, then Learn More. If your account qualifies, you see the hostname and your ID.
- Select Generate password. The password works for all your SFTP connections, standard and mission uploads alike, and can be reused.
- Open an SFTP client. Adobe names FileZilla; an existing FTP client works once its connection type is set to SFTP. Leave the port blank, or enter 22 if the client asks.
- Upload the clips as standalone files. Files inside folders or archives are not supported, so select the files themselves, not the folder that holds them.
- If a file fails, send it again with the re-upload option.
Adobe Stock batch upload of metadata: the CSV
Typing a title and keywords clip by clip does not scale. Adobe's CSV attaches them to a whole batch, and its limits are generous: 5,000 rows in a file of 1 MB or less.
- Upload every clip of the batch, and any releases the CSV names.
- In Uploaded Files, open the New tab and select Upload CSV.
- Choose the file, upload it, then select Refresh.
- Look for the message "Data from your CSV was applied to the related files." and check a few clips.
You can correct the file and upload it again for the same batch until it reaches the 5,000-row limit. The rules that break large files most often:
| Rule | Adobe's requirement |
|---|---|
| Format | .csv only; .xls and .xlsx are rejected |
| Encoding | UTF-8, required for Excel users outside the US |
| Header row | Exactly as in Adobe's template, not renamed or translated |
| Filename | Exact uploaded name, extension and letter case included; 30 characters at most |
| Title | 70 characters at most, no commas or special characters |
| Keywords | 50 at most, comma-separated, in order of importance |
| Category | A number, not a name |
The 30-character Filename limit is the one to plan before a shoot is uploaded: long camera names have to be shortened first, since the CSV must match the uploaded name. The full column list and a template for video are in the Adobe Stock CSV guide, which also explains why this site keeps keyword lists at 49 or fewer.
Categories and keyword order at scale
Categories
Adobe has 21 categories, from Animals to Travel, and the CSV takes the category's number. At upload, Adobe suggests a category automatically and calls the suggestion "often accurate", while asking you to double-check it. In a batch of hundreds, a wrong suggestion repeats across every clip of the same scene, so spot check one clip per scene. Which category fits which kind of footage is covered in Adobe Stock categories.
Keyword order
On Adobe Stock, "the first 10 keywords carry the most weight in search results." The reordering tool in Uploaded Files works clip by clip, and you cannot change the order while files are being moderated. For a batch, the practical place to set the order is the CSV: subject, action and setting first. Details are in Adobe Stock keyword order.
Releases in bulk
Adobe's release page offers Bulk upload scanned releases next to Adobe Sign. Releases go up as PDFs of 10 MB at most. Upload them before the CSV that refers to them.
The weekly limit and a large shoot
Since 20 May 2025, Adobe applies two limits: a weekly submission limit and a maximum amount of content pending moderation. Reaching either brings a temporary pause before you can submit more. Adobe has published no number for either, no duration for the pause and no definition of the week. Its moderation page adds that the limits help manage the volume in the review queue, where each upload is moderated individually.
For a large shoot, that means submitting in parts rather than all at once:
- Upload and tag the whole batch if you like: the CSV handles 5,000 rows.
- Submit the strongest and most distinct clips first. A pause stops submissions, so the clips that go in before it should be the ones you most want online.
- Send modest batches over the week so pending clips do not fill the second cap.
- Log each submission with its date and count. With no published figure, your log is the only record of how your account behaves.
What is known about the limit, and what the forums claim without Adobe's confirmation, is in the Adobe Stock submission limit.
Common bulk upload errors
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No SFTP details under Learn More | Account not qualified for SFTP | Upload in the browser |
| FTP client does not connect | Connection type left on FTP | Switch it to SFTP, or install a dedicated SFTP client |
| Folder or zip upload fails | Folders and archives are not supported | Upload the files themselves |
| Upload tool stops logging in | A new SFTP password was generated | Enter the new credentials in the tool |
| CSV data does not attach | File name differs in spelling, extension or case | Copy the uploaded names exactly |
| CSV refused | Excel format, changed headers, over 5,000 rows or 1 MB | Save as CSV UTF-8 with Adobe's headers; split the file |
| Wrong release attached | Two releases share a name | Give every release a unique name |
| Keyword order locked | Clips already in moderation | Fix the order before Submit next time |
| Submit paused | Weekly limit or pending cap reached | Wait for the pause to end; send smaller batches |
Where RushPilot fits
For a large Adobe Stock batch, the work that grows with the clip count is the metadata. RushPilot is a desktop app that reads a few frames of each clip, writes a title and keywords to Adobe's rules with the most important keywords first, checks common rejection reasons (resolution, duration, logos, upscaling), waits for you to approve the batch, then uploads to Adobe Stock, and to Shutterstock and Pond5 if you choose.
It does not raise Adobe's weekly limit or tell you its number, and moderators still decide on each clip. RushPilot is in private beta: you can join the waiting list, and new accounts get 25 clips free.

Questions
Does Adobe Stock have a batch upload option?
Yes. The browser upload accepts several files by drag and drop, and SFTP, open to qualified accounts, is what Adobe calls ideal for bulk uploads and large videos. Metadata for the batch goes in with a CSV.
How do I get Adobe Stock SFTP access?
In the Contributor Portal, select Upload, then Learn More. If your account is qualified, that is where Adobe shows the hostname, your ID and a Generate password button. Adobe does not say publicly how an account qualifies.
Can I upload a folder or a zip file to Adobe Stock by SFTP?
No. Adobe asks for standalone files. Files inside folders or archives are not supported.
How many rows can an Adobe Stock CSV have?
5,000 rows in a file of 1 MB or less. You can update and upload the CSV again for the same batch until it reaches 5,000 rows.
Does SFTP get around the Adobe Stock weekly limit?
Nothing in Adobe's pages suggests it. The limits announced on 20 May 2025 apply to submissions, and SFTP is a way to upload files before you submit them.
Can I reorder keywords for many clips at once?
Adobe's page describes the reordering tool clip by clip in Uploaded Files. Its CSV page asks for keywords ordered by importance, so for a batch, set the order in the file before you upload it.
